IN-COUNTRY SEMINAR FOR JORDAN - PART I
A Deeper Partnership for the Future: EBESM and selected Jordanian representatives explore the benefits of Euro-Mediterranean Networks and Partnerships
In a competitive economic environment, strong networks and partnerships are crucial for SMEs to remain proactive on international markets. In this spirit, EBESM organised a training seminar in Amman, Jordan, on November 26th 2014, to "Support Jordanian SMEs to Benefit from Euro-Mediterranean Networks and Partnerships”. The seminar aimed at supporting Jordan’s efforts to meet policy recommendations on Euro-MED networks, partnerships and clustering, in line with the Small Business Act for Europe. Organised in collaboration with JEDCO, this collaborative workshop brought together around fifty representatives from the government, private sector and civil society, gathered together from the entire country.
Participants drew on good practices in the EU and Mediterranean countries and agreed on necessary concrete steps on this important topic. For instance, Jordan will apply to join the Europe Enterprise Network (EEN), EU's largest business and innovation network, to help its SMEs find international partners and clients. A consortium led by JEDCO, including the Jordan Chamber of Industry and the Royal Scientific Society, will respond to the Call for Expressions of Interest launched by the EEN by March 15th this year. If successful, Jordan will be the fifth Mediterranean country, after Egypt, Israel, Morocco and Tunisia, to join the world’s largest SME network.
